The Judging and Ethics Committee is the ethical watchdog over organised philately in South Africa and strives to uphold moral and ethical standards in philatelic matters. *
The focus is on philatelic exhibiting and the judging of competitive exhibits. A code of ethical conduct applies for members of philatelic juries and a register of accredited judges and their fields of expertise is kept.
Details of the international rules for the exhibiting of various types of collections are made available locally by the committee, which also conducts work sessions on judging for clubs.
* Matters of ethical conduct relating to stamp dealers are handled by the South African Philatelic Dealers’ Association (SAPDA).
